Workers Compensation Law
The legal concept of workers compensation was born in the state of Maryland back in 1902. Today, every state has a workers compensation program in one form or another. However, many workers have no idea how the program can work to their benefit as well as knowing what the state laws and workplace procedures are where they live and work.
The Purpose Of Workers Compensation!
The basic thrust of this unique program is simply to provide medical aid and care plus needed income for injuries on the job. The key words here being: "on the job." Injuries can include lasting job-related disabilities, and those workers who have been made ill due to the job conditions where they actually work. On the other hand, the workers compensation program is like a trade-off between injured workers and employers. The workers receive compensation for any and all injuries, ergo, the worker gets the compensation in exchange for not hiring a personal injury lawyer and filing a civil law suit.
Workers Compensation Benefits Are Complicated!
A worker can't always know the rules, laws and workplace procedures. If an on the job injury should occur the worker may not know the rules of the game in terms of compensation nor the best steps to take that would lead them to receiving compensation. It has been known that some workers have been cheated out of all or part of their benefits simply because they were not aware of how the program works.
Note: It is strongly suggested that any on the job injured worker seek professional advice and guidance and hire a legal wizard who specializes in Workers Compensation Law.
